Coleman Hensley
Personal Bio
Coleman Hensley is the Programs Coordinator of Leading the Way Academy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping elementary students grow into confident leaders through academic support, leadership development, and social-emotional learning. He is currently a student at Clemson University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and is a student-athlete on the Clemson Cheerleading team.
Coleman believes every child deserves someone who believes in them. His passion for education comes from seeing the difference that caring teachers and mentors can make in a student’s life. Through Leading the Way, he hopes to create opportunities for children to build confidence, discover their strengths, and develop the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Why Teaching?
Teaching is more than a career to Coleman—it is an opportunity to shape lives. He enjoys helping students understand new concepts, overcome challenges, and celebrate their successes. He believes the classroom should be a place where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. His goal is to create positive learning experiences that inspire students to become lifelong learners and compassionate leaders.
Why Leading the Way?
Leading the Way Academy Foundation was created to fill a need in the community for affordable, high-quality after-school programming that combines academics, leadership, and character development. Coleman recognized that many students need additional support beyond the school day, not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.
The organization’s mission is to prepare students to become future leaders by providing homework assistance, STEM enrichment, leadership lessons, service opportunities, and social-emotional learning in a safe and encouraging environment. Coleman believes leadership can be taught and that every child has the potential to make a positive impact in their school, family, and community.
